Welcome to the Online Foreign Research Permit Application!

Researcher(s) from other countries are welcome to carry out research in Indonesia. In accordance with the Indonesian regulation (Govt. Regulation no. 41/ 2006), all foreign researchers doing research activities in Indonesia must obtain an official permit from the Indonesian authority in advanced.
In order to improve our service and support foreign researchers working with Indonesian counterparts, Indonesia Ministry of Research and Technology has launched a full-online system through this site (https://frp.ristekbrin.go.id) for all required procedures. All procedures and communication have to be done online, including the application form, uploading all necessary documents and the later reports as well. The Secretariat of Foreign Research Permit will take care all procedures required to obtain an official permit and subsequent stuff thereafter.


OFFICIAL NOTICE Dear Foreign Researchers with the intent to conduct research in Indonesia,

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is to inform you as follows:
  1. Online Registration of Foreign Research Permit applications through the SIVITA www.frp.ristekbrin.go.id will be reviewed as usual for obtaining approval.
  2. Referring to Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation Number 26 of 2020 on Visa and Stay Permit in New Normal, issuing of Research Visa (Limited Stay Visa C315) has been suspended for the time being.
  3. For foreign Researchers who has already obtained the Research Permit Approvals, suggested to conduct Remote Research or Online Research from their own country of residence. Since in conducting Remote Research the Researchers do not come and present physically in the field, so the Indonesian counterpart will conduct data collecting as well as research sample if needed and then. the data and sampel analysis are able to be jointly conducted by both parties. Letter of Agreement between the Researcher's institution and Indonesian counterpart’s institution for data sharing and Intellectual Property Rights ownership is absolutely needed.
